It's not like I chose this,
so don't try to blame me.
"Emotional instability"
is how God has made me,
yet such "instability"
can make me ignite
to such a degree
that most men deny
is even worth noting
for such passionate flame
is "too idealistic"
for any real gain.
So they corporately dismiss
what they don't understand
and claim emotions block logic
and hinder a man.
But in that moment
of incinerating fire,
my very soul's strings
are burning, ALIVE.
And yes, the pain can seem
near too much to carry;
its weight, sheer gold,
can make the heart weary.
And true, it is possible
to cut yourself off
from emotional passion
and all painful loss,
but those down that path
will discover demise,
because life without feeling
is life half-alive.

ReplyDeleteEmotions are tricky. I sometimes wish I didn't have them. But to be emotionless is to be less human. I think I'll refer back to what I said about happiness. Emotions are definitely fleeting, and constantly change, but there's a huge different between peace and emotions. Even in the midst of constant pain through emotional instability, it's peace that calms our hearts and tells us that it's going to be okay.
